About the Chef
Having trained as a fine artist, I relocated to London from Johannesburg in 1997.
A stint at the River Cafe opened up a career in the kitchen and I have since held head chef positions at Megan's Deli and 06 St Chad's Place before setting up Pestle and Mortar Events in 2006 and subsequently Bootleg Banquet in 2010.
My greatest loves in life, besides my beautiful Paul and adorable cat Chi, are film, food, music and art.

We celebrated our 30th birthday at Bootleg Banquet with 25 of our close friends and it could not have been a more perfect evening from start to finish.
The food was incredible and friends are still talking about the salted caramel ice cream desert!
I would recommend Bootleg Banquet to anyone who likes good food and is looking for a unique, relaxed and intimate evening.
Pieter was amazing throughout and made the evening really memorable (he surprised us with birthday cupcakes and candles after the dinner - which were to die for!).
We had such a fun evening and I will most definately be heading back to Bootleg Banquet for another supper club very soon.
We started going to Bootleg Banquet over a year ago, and have loved every single one we have been to. This is a totally different experience to going out for dinner, the food is amazing (and they have made me some of the best veggie food I have been served anywhere), you get to meet some fantastic people and Pieter is a wonderful host. The music is fab too!
We have taken numerous friends there with us (not easy to drag them to Shoreditch!) and all of them have had an amazing time and want to return. We feel really lucky to be part of such a special dining experience.
If you haven’t been to Bootleg Banquet before, I couldn’t recommend it highly enough!
Amazing experience all round! The chefs customised my menu to suit the theme of the night. The music and atmosphere was superb and the food was top notch - I recommend Bootleg Banquet on all accounts.
I totally love this place. These guys are seriously good chefs and I can honestly say that every time I go the food is just amazing. They use really fresh, seasonal ingredients - yummy!
I also love the setting and the fact you are almost sitting in the kitchen with them...(it is a bit difficult to find though, but worth it!)
I cannot recomend it enough... be there or be square!!!

Bootleg Banquet is the best thing to have happened to Shoreditch! This a supper club with a difference. Pieter’s food is fabulous, prepared with the finest ingredients and with love and care. My first visit to Bootleg Banquet was meant to be the start of a journey to discover London’s supper clubs – the truth is that I have found the best, so why bother exploring the rest? Every meal has been faultless and utterly delicious. The atmosphere is brilliant, and Paul plays some great music. I can’t recommend Bootleg Banquet highly enough, from the warm welcome, the splendid food and company to the hugs goodbye. Book now, you wont regret it!
