About Du Jour Dining
As a winemaker and chef I understand creating flavor and as a diner I understand wanting something new and different. We bring you the intimacy of a personal dinner party with the ease of a restaurant. Some call it underground dining, but we call it Du Jour Dining. There is nothing underground about extraordinary seasonal ingredients, innovative technique and technology, a wine paired with each course and the passion for perfection that comes to fruition in a great dinning experience centered around you.
We create a specific seasonal market driven menu for each dinner we perform, match a wine with each of approximately nine courses and dedicate ourselves to making that menu, your evening, something special. With only one table to focus upon, we can do things a restaurant can not – like giving you our full focus for the entire evening including as much or as little of the chef’s commentary as desired. The table is yours for the night, but beware the chef may join in for a glass of wine at the end!
Each dinner is a different menu and different people and we will never serve someone the same course twice. Menus are developed by consulting with over twenty local bay area farms, four butchers, three fishmongers and five cheesemongers to create the most innovative, exciting, unique and fresh dining experience possible.
About the Chef
I am a winemaker and cork vendor by day and a chef by night.
Creating nine destinctive courses gives the diner a much more complex and exciting dining experience and it gives me the unparelleled opportunity to experiment with ingredients, flavors and textures. I understand creating flavor in every bite and every sip. My understanding of both gives me a great ability to perfectly compliment my food flavors with so many different wines. I have been collecting wine for over 33 years and pull from my cellar for every dinner.

Du Jour Dining was a wonderful and unique experience. Everything from the Food and Wine Pairings to the ecletic and refereshing conversations to the hosts for the evening were most enjoyable.

We had a wonderful dining experience with du jour dining in June. The food was fantastic, wines incredible, and hosts were so friendly and relaxed, and had a fun group to enjoy the evening. Can't wait to join in another du jour dining experience real soon.

Vance is incredibly talented, creative and a true master of his craft. He and his lovely wife Kelley make the evening a hit. Food is incredible, the wine pairings are right on and it is fun to meet your tablemates. We will definitely go to other events.
Vance and Kelly have brought a truly unique experience to Sonoma -- creative menus that are both visually beautiful oon the plate, and truly delicious to eat. Thoughtful wine pairings enhanced each course. The beautifully set community table was a nice and comfortable setting for the exquisite dining event that took place!
This was over the top in every way. Vance brought out one amazing dish after another, each one perfectly paired with a different wine. Even though it was 9 courses, it wasn't an obscene amount of food. You got maybe two bites of each -- just enough to tease your palate, not enough to leave you bloated. Everything was seasonal and fresh, of course, but also sooooo inventive. We'll be going to another event soon. Considering how much effort Vance and his team out into it, plus all the incredible wine, it's actually a deal.
Everything about the evening at Du Jour was beautiful. It was apparent throughout the night that Vance Rose is passionate about entertaining and creating a fantastic experience for everyone. His broad yet refined range of culinary craftsmanship kept the group anticipating the flavors of the course yet to come. Being in wine country, of course the wine was plentiful and Vance, being a long time patron of the wine industry, was able to provide strong insight into his pairing choices and their backgrounds. The group was great, the surroundings were very comfortable and the food was spectacular. Recommended for a night to remember.
This was my first experience with Du Jour dining, and Vance made it extremely memorable! The food was absolutely fantastic, the wine was paired perfectly. The atmosphere was casual, yet sophisticated and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I would do it again and again. Thank you Vance!

Du Jour Dining was our first underground dining experience, and we will definitely do it again. Vance and his wife were not only amazing in the kitchen, but timed the meal perfectly and were amazing hosts. They hold these meals either in their home or in other locations, but we attended a meal in their flat in San Francisco, which is perfectly sized for an intimate meal. All of the food was amazing and original, and several we have tried to make on our own since (to varying success).
Perhaps the best part of the night, however, is when they were finally done serving and joined us for wine and discussion in dining room.
We will do it again and would highly recommend to anyone interested in an amazing, unique, and personal dining experience. With complete wine pairings, this is more than worth the money!
Best fourth of July ever!...Vance and Kelly are premier hosts and offer a meal/experience to delight the senses. Superb combinatons give this exquisite dining event more pleasure than any in restaurant dining experience. A must try!!!
This was one of the most exciting dining experiences we have ever had. The inventiveness of the food, the perfect wine pairings and the explanations of each course and wine pairing in a relaxed and intimate setting was fabulous. The value of the food, wine and experience for the price was incomparable.
