Chris attended Ethiopian Dinner | Habesha Nights - Act 1

Before this event, I had one experience with Ethiopian food and it was not so good. I had also experienced several subpar vegan meals.

But last night, Bunna Cafe TOTALLY REDEEMED both Ethiopian and Vegan food for me. Seriously, the food was delicious, fresh, and filling. The Honey Wine was amazing. The atmosphere was very laid back. Best of all, Sam, the rest of the crew, and the rest of the attendees were incredibly friendly and fun to be around.

I have been to many underground restaurants and secret dinners, but this was one was one of the best executed and most fun. I will definitely attend the next Bunna Cafe event and make sure to bring some friends.

I suggest you do the same!

Edit: It is a total coincidence that I wrote basically the same thing as Carly - I guess it's all true.

This is what underground dining should be! Delicious food and drinks in a great environment surrounded by good company.

This dinner completely redeemed Ethiopian AND vegan food for me at once. For that alone I'm thankful- this is an event I will recommend to all and come back to in the future!

Description

On Sunday, May 6, Bunna Café will open its doors for a vegan-friendly dinner in Bushwick/Morgantown/East Williamsburg. This will be the first in a series of dinner parties we will hold over the summer. Here is what we have in store for your senses:

_| Sight |_
Watch the Ethiopian coffee ceremony in action on a communal table with 23 other really good-looking people who are coincidentally admiring the way you look as well. Watch them consume a mound of healthy, hearty vegan Ethiopian food as you do the same.

_| Sound |_
Musical entertainment by Toli Nameless (www.ToliNameless.com). Pre and After Party sounds by DJ Sirak.

_| Smell |_
Roasting coffee beans, simmering lentils, peppers, split peas, cardamom. Subtle hints of Frankincense and Myrrh.

_| Taste |_
Where to begin? Spicy, savory, tangy, sweet, tart – get the picture?

_| Touch |_
Fluffy spongy flatbread injera that serves as your plate and utensils.

Note: Ethiopian dinner = communal dinner. We will accommodate any guest as best we can, but the experience is ideal when you share plates and tables. Please be prepared to interact; each plate can be shared between 2 to 4 people. Also Ethiopian food is eaten without utensils. Instead the food is scooped up using injera -- Ethiopian flatbread. We will have hot towels and a washing station available for guests.
